Bodegas Can Petit is a small, boutique Cava bodega located near Sant Sadurni de Anoia. The bodega and its estate vineyards are actually in Espiells, which is the highest point in elevation in the Penedes region. The high altitude contributes to a slower maturation of the grapes, which produces wines with greater freshness and higher acidity. The bodega owns 50 acres of estate vineyards and controls another 250 acres under long-term contracts. The vineyard enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate and The soil, which is alluvial in origin, is formed by a limearcillous layer which provides a balanced base for the vines to grow in. The wine is a blend of 55% Macabeo and 45% Parellada. Winemaking is overseen by Damià Deas who has been in control of Finca Can Petit since 1985. He has personally supervised the planting of the vineyards and the construction of the new bodega. Winner of a Gold Medal at the 2017 Sommelier Wine Awards and best value sparkling wine.
